At first I thought this was a gravy boat with an underplate. However, I believe it is a relish plate or dish and a round sauce bowl. These semi-porcelain china pieces would make a beautiful addition to your dining table. These pieces of 1950s dinnerware are in very good condition. No Chips or cracks or obvious signs of wear.
It's hard to find both pieces of this MCM Blue Black Pinecone pattern together; especially in such great condition.
The vintage relish tray is stamped Paden City Pottery - Oven Proof on the back. The bowl is not marked on the back.
Made in the USA and back-stamped as identified.
History:
In the 1920s Paden City Pottery began manufacturing high quality, semi-porcelain dinnerware. Paden City was a pioneer in the production of semi-porcelain and in using a spraying apparatus to apply colored glazes.
The quality of Paden City Pottery’s decals was such that their ware often was assumed to be hand painted. The 1950s saw the introduction of more new lines, including the Black Blue Pinecone pattern. Competition intensified in the early 1960s. Paden City Pottery ceased operations in November 1963.
