Paden City Pottery Highlight Pepper 2 plates 10 1/8 inches - Justin Tharaud

These are from my folks' collections. They have been packed away with a box of Russel Wright pieces.  They were purchased at flea markets or shows back in the 80's most likely. One plate has a pre-glaze chip. I read that this pattern while it won awards was plagued by manufacturing problems. I wonder if the chipping prior to glazing was one of those problems.
They are the pepper glaze- a blackish color.  They  have quite a few utensil scratches and some that I can feel with a fingernail, on the front and on the back too. They are deeper than a light graze.
Both are marked Justin Tharaud & Son Russel Wright Made in USA
