Update: Interstate 81 reopens in Mattydale after power lines fell on highway

Update as of 11:32 a.m.: Lanes have reopened on Interstate 81.
Mattydale, N.Y. — Interstate 81 closed in both directions Friday morning in Mattydale after power lines came down on the busy highway.
At 10:43 a.m. it was reported that the wires were down on the interstate near the Northern Lights mall, according to dispatches from the Onondaga County 911 Center. The Hinsdale Fire Department and Onondaga County Sheriff’s Office responded.
High winds and a tree brought down a sub-transmission power line on the interstate, said Jared Paventi, a spokesperson for National Grid. About 35 people are affected by this line, he said.
Nearly 500 were without power in Salina, according to the National Grid Outage map due to a separate incident,
